Introduction

EnergyLink is an energy management software for use with DAE's line of energy and water meters. It collects data from the meters, logs them and allows the user to analyze and create reports from the data.

EnergyLink is available in three varieties depending on the features and scale, these are the EnergyLink300, EnergyLink400 and EnergyLink500.

Products

EnergyLink300

  • This is the economy model of the software for the automated reading of electricity and water meters, it is meant to be installed on a host PC running Windows.
  • It links to and collects data from the various meters through either an RS485 or an Ethernet connection.
  • The products that can be connected are limited to certain electricity and water meters from DAE only. At most 30 meters can be connected.

Energy Tracking

Energy tracking applications

To track where the resources are consumed, each building or department can have electricity and water meters installed, the data is then collected and logged by the host computer which can then be analyzed later.

Billing

Retail stores, market stalls, rental offices, apartments, dormitories.

By having meters installed in rental apartments, stalls, offices and dormitories; one can charged for the actual amount of resource consumed instead of having to approximate by floor area. A monthly bill can then be generated automatically.

Supported Devices

The EnergyLink300 can only connect up to 30 electricity or water meters. It can connect the DEM, DFM series of electricity meters and the AMR water meter module.

The EnergyLink400 can connect with the meters and devices shown in the diagram below.

Communication Architecture

EnergyLink400 communications architecture

Communication Converters

The EnergyLink system can connect using various types of communication converters, but the EnergyLink300 can only make use of the CC150 and the WSC201.

Communication Irregularity

The EnergyLink specializes in automated meter reading and hence it is important that it maintains constant communication with the devices; if this link is broken then the data between the software and devices is no longer in sync, then billing may become incorrect. Thus, if the software cannot connect after several retries then it will pop up an alert screen to notify the operator

Combined Display

On the main screen, the devices are organized into floors or areas and shown in outline form. Selecting an area will show all the meters for that area with their current readings.

Based on a multiple bus and multi-threaded architecture, updating the meter readings is quick and enables the system to display the data in near real time and always in sync with the actual meter readings.

Prepaid Meter

Prepaid Meter Control

When the device connected is a card reader, then the software is able to read the remaining credits on the IC card, and it can also bypass the card reader and directly command the attached meter to have it connect or disconnect the power.

High/Low Alarm

When multi-function meters are used with the EnergyLink400 for energy monitoring, then high and low alarms can be set and recorded.

Consumption Report

The energy consumption summary report is for use in the analysis and comparison of how the resources are being utilized which is one of the most important reports that an energy management system can generate.

EnergyLink400 one tenant one meter report

The EnergyLink400 generates a single tariff, one tenant to one meter report.

EnergyLink500 one tenant multiple meters report

The EnergyLink500 can generate a report with either a single tariff, time of use tariff, inclined block tariff, for a single tenant with multiple meters.

Data Logging

Exporting data to Excel or MySQL

Data is updated and logged every 30 minutes, which can be recalled later for reporting or search.

Data is stored in a MySQL database allowing for a simultaneous third party to access and read; such a third party software can then perform analysis on the data or create its own billing report.

The data can also be exported as an Excel file that the user can manipulate at their discretion.
